DESIGN JOURNEY AND EXPERIENCE

The third and the fourth year has been amazing, that was a year of designing, exploring and creating my own range of jewellery, as a designer I had to design pieces and manufacture. Personally I prefer designing complex pieces, with a lot of details, because I am more attracted by complex pieces with a lot of movement, reason why my theme was based on to filigree, pieces were designed mostly with wire. As a designer I had to be creative and found things that inspires to create interesting and beautiful design, while designing I always think of how to impact other people and many of my African and Congolese heart, Inspiring them by bringing something new to this world. Things that always inspire me in general are fashion, nature, music and history ; but this year as we had to come up with a theme i was inspired by chandeliers

FASHION

Fashion in my opinion is about expressing an identity, showing someone who I am through the fashion choices and using the clothes to tell someone something about myself. I suppose for some people clothing is just about comfort or utility but for me it is about expressing myself. In today’s world, everybody knows personality is the key to fame and success. From clothes to shoes people love to look unique and beautiful and in this fashion conscious world, everyone especially woman give more attention to their wardrobe accessories to look classy and different. Among all these accessories, the major focus always remain on clothing, but to complement your wardrobe, fashion jewellery is a must. It is jewellery that will give the outfit more colors. Reason I always found interesting to design a piece that will match the outfit

NATURE

Nature teaches that for everything there is a season and right timing. Sometimes in our life we want certain things to happen right now. It is hard to wait for the fruits of our own actions and we expect results immediately. The really good thing in life self-discovery, meditation, contemplation, are not like instant coffee. They take time, practice and effort. Nature teaches us also to be humble. There is a quiet strength in humility. It is not a passive quality, humility is needed in our everyday lives in many encounters we have with others. What I had noticed nature is beauty an simply everywhere around me I see the beauty of nature that inspires, by walking along the beach admiring the beauty of the blue sky that reflecting in the sea, by looking at the sunrise and sunset, by running through a forest of trees.

MUSIC

Music is a wonderful thing, and it is also more powerful that we think. I can harness the power of inspiration and motivation by simply listening to the favorite song. For me music is very close together with design, beats and melody set the mood of my images and lyrics and speed influence my movements when designing. Most of the time while designing I listen to LOKUA KANZA is a Congolese artist that sings in my home language, two of his popular songs is NAKOZONGA (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPAgj9LXOKA ) that simply means I will come back. The song is basically saying I am going to another country but tomorrow I will come back, going for long does not mean dying , not matter what I will go back to Kinshasa (capital city of the DR Congo) CAMERA DANS LE COEUR that simply mean a camera in the heart ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4kvz3zDcis ) his music always inspire me because it talk about the beauty of Congo and the reality of life that the population are facing.

HISTORY

As a designer history informs us because it tells us the ways of the past and how things came to be. It also informs because it tells how to do things. When it comes for design I need the past more than the present it helps to get a lot of information and inspiration to make beautiful and stronger design.

The inspiration of my design comes the most from chandeliers. A chandelier is a branched ornamental light fixture designed to be mounted on ceilings or walls. It becomes doubled and tripled when that light is reflected in a sparkling crystals. I always want to design something elegant simple and reflecting light.
